Viktor Erdos – Bosna 2012 winner

Winner of the 42nd International chess tournament "Bosna 2012" is a Hungarian chess player Viktor Erdos. The winner of the B tournament is Nihad Hodzic, while the most successful woman chess player is  Aleksandar Dimitrijevic. Two players have on Grandmaster title at the Tournament -  Ipatov and Yilmaz. At the tournament, held from 5th till 11th  of May, participated 100 players from 15 countries.

Antipov tried to get the advantage during the final match but it was important not to lose so Postny neutralized the white’s game. Two of them shared the first place, and were left to wait to see who will join them. Hungarian Erdos’s tactics to draw the stronger and win against the weaker proved to be justified. With winning against Nabaty he joined the two winners of the Tournament. Additional criteria made him a very welcome Hungarian in Sarajevo, Victor Erdos. Melkumyan who started a great tournament with five wins, despite the two defeats in the finish the tournament still had chances for the first place. He finished the tournament as a true tragedian, because he lost the third game in a row against the Russian representative Ipatov. "the revelation of the tournament is Mikhail Antipov, who will be only fifteen years old in June. Thus, "Bosna 2012" enters the history as another one of Sarajevo's tournaments that will be marked as the first international recognition of the new star of chess",  are the words that grandmaster Predrag Nikolic said to conclude Tournament’s commentary.

At the closing ceremony  president of Chess Cluc "Bosna", Nusret Causevic, congratulated the winners and thanked all participants for the dynamic game that held the tournament in suspense all the way until the final round. "We have kept the tradition of the organization of one of the three largest Open chess tournament in the world and I hope that next year we will have even more participants and more better-positioned players," said Causevic thanking all the sponsors for their support.

The Tournament director, Mr. Harun Jasarevic, stressed the fact that the rounds were played in a very positive atmosphere in which the players were inspired to fight with special zeal to win each game. He recalled that 135 parties were broadcasted over the Internet.

Four-time European Champion, Chess Club "Bosna" organizes since 1998. this tournament on the occasion of 22nd May, the date of receipt of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Nations. The tournament was held under the patronage of the Government of Canton Sarajevo, Government of the Federation of the Bosnia and Herzegovina, the City of Sarajevo and the Council of Ministers.
